Write for us
We welcome clear, original contributions that help general readers understand a public policy concept, process or choice without turning explanation into partisan promotion or professional advice.
What we welcome
Pitch an explainer, comparison, background piece or close reading of a policy term, instrument, decision stage or implementation challenge. Strong proposals have a defined question, a useful reader takeaway and a scope that can be handled without unsupported claims.
What makes a good pitch
Use a working title and a short paragraph explaining the central idea, why it matters to a general reader and how you would keep it accurate and within scope. Tell us about any relevant perspective or potential conflict of interest. Do not send confidential information or claim credentials you cannot substantiate.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please do not submit a full article unless invited.
Policy is a chain of choices
A proposal is more than its stated aim. We look at the problem, the instrument, the trade-offs and the path from decision to delivery.
